*We have spring, summer and winter break according to the decision of the school meeting every year.

Manje accepts children aged between 5 and 18, but they must be 12 or under at the start. When the child is between13 and15, you can ask our school meeting whether she/he can enroll or not after spending 40 days as a "trial student (see the information below)".

<Tuition & Fees>

*There is a tuition reduction for the second or third child from the same family.

Accident Insurance（Optional/Yearly）

Students can take out accident insurance. There are two choices. One is ¥800 and the other is ¥1,450.

Enrollment Process

School Information Session/Observation Visit (Option)

We have a session to explain about Democratic school nearly every month. (About 2 hours/¥1,000 per person) Or if you want to see the school when it's active, observation visit is available. You can have a short orientation by a staff member and stay till the end of the school hours. (¥3,000/person, ¥1,500 for a high school or college student) Both of them are open for not only parents but also anybody who are interested in this modern type of education.

Free Trial (2days)

A child can spend time with students for free for max 2 days. She/He must have a will to do so and understand our school rules and respect them. At this time we are afraid that we have rules only in Japanese. So please have somebody translate it to your language for your child. And parents are expected to read this website well. Thank you.

Orientation 1 (about 2hours)

A staff member will explain about democratic school and what we value here. We'll recommend some books to read too. (We have some books for rent.) We would like both parents (if not single) to attend this orientation.

Trial Period (3days ~ 30days or 2months)

A child can spend time as a student until she/he can tell if she/he can decide whether she/he wants to be a formal student or not. Parents are recommended to read some books and handouts during this time. And if any questions come up, please don't hesitate to ask us. (First 3days...¥10,000 then ¥3,000/day)

Orientation 2 (about 2hours)

After the trial period, we ask parents to go through our "checking list" to see their understanding of our philosophy. We want to confirm if our school is the right school both parents and the child wants.

After confirming chid's will, we discuss in the school meeting if we want to accept the request.
